Session Rates
Sessions at Abundant Life Affordable Counseling are provided by supervised clinicians at two stages of licensure. Each clinician works under the direct, individualized supervision of Kathleen Shanahan, MA, LMFT, a CAMFT Certified Clinical Supervisor, which is what makes genuine quality care at these fees possible.

In-Network with Aetna and Blue Shield of California for Psychotherapy
Abundant Life Affordable Counseling is currently in-network with Aetna and Blue Shield of California for psychotherapy services. If you have an Aetna or Blue Shield of California plan, your sessions may be covered in full or in part depending on your individual benefits. Claims are submitted directly to your carrier, so you are responsible only for your copay, coinsurance, or deductible. Coverage varies by plan. We encourage you to contact your carrier or log into your member portal to confirm your mental health benefits before your first appointment. Ask about your deductible, your copay or coinsurance, and whether your plan has any session limits.
Using a Different Insurance Carrier
If your insurance is not Aetna or Blue Shield of California, we provide a superbill. A superbill is a detailed receipt containing everything your carrier needs to process a reimbursement claim directly with you. Many PPO plans offer out-of-network mental health benefits that can meaningfully reduce what you pay out of pocket.

Reduced-Fee Applications Are Available
Cost should not be what stands between someone and care. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are available for clients who qualify. If you need financial support beyond our standard rates, reach out to us directly. We will walk you through what is available and work with you to find a path forward.
