Grounded in Christian values, Abundant Life Affordable Counseling is a nonprofit counseling center in Santa Ana built to provide affordable, high-quality care for individuals, children, families, and couples, whether you are preparing for marriage or navigating challenges within one. All backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs are welcomed, and every person who reaches out is met with a team that genuinely cares about where they are headed.

Our mission is rooted in Christian values, and faith-based care is at the heart of this practice. At the beginning of your treatment, your clinician will talk with you about how you would like faith woven into your sessions. Some clients want scripture, prayer, and spiritual reflection as active parts of their care. Others prefer a lighter touch. The depth of integration is always yours to guide.
People of all faiths, backgrounds, and walks of life are welcome here.

Every part of this practice was built with you in mind, and that starts before you even walk in the door.
When you reach out, we make it a priority to respond the same day, even if just to say your message was received and we will be in touch soon. Because that first step deserves to be met with warmth, not waiting.
When you arrive, you will find warm lighting, live plants, soft music, and a coffee and tea station, all designed to help you feel at ease before the session even begins. If you come in hungry, we have snacks, and if you have little ones with you, we have something to keep them comfortable too. If your back is aching, we have a heating pad to help with the discomfort. We think about the small things because they are not small to us. Every detail was put in place to support your healing, and your comfort is part of that process.
You are not just another client, another fee walking in the door. Your healing process matters to us, and we carry that into every session.

Abundant Life Affordable Counseling was founded on a mission: to provide compassionate, high-quality mental health care for people who need it, at a cost that does not put it out of reach. Kathleen Shanahan built this practice around that conviction, and she is the CAMFT Certified Clinical Supervisor who oversees every client's care.
All counseling services are provided by Marriage and Family Therapist Trainees and Registered Associates who are progressing toward licensure under Kathleen's direct, individualized supervision.
This model exists by design. It allows clients to receive competent, personalized care at a significantly reduced cost, making quality mental health support accessible while also contributing to the development of future therapists. Every clinician is carefully selected for their skill, compassion, and commitment to ethical care.
